The programme strives to not only familiarize children and young adults with current research, technology trends, and uses of space sciences and technology along-with the numerous career opportunities offered by the space sector but also to let them know that space science can be fun and inspiring.
The programme offers a series of round the year activities and resources to enthuse students and general masses while strengthening academia-industry linkage. At the heart of this programme’s implementation lies the creation of a dedicated educational website ‘Space Education and Awareness Drive (SEAD)’
SEAD uses top-down approach to provide dynamic platform for students to participate in national as well as international activities and demand-driven bottom up approach for educators to organize awareness events at their premises.
Presently, sead.pk offers the following:
- A hub of space related information including celestial events, research breakthroughs, technology advancements, news of space activities etc
- Announcements of national/ regional/ international events, competitions, opportunities for Pakistani students
- Easy to use portals to apply for internships
- Round the year ‘Space Van’, project featuring three mobile education vans. The vans contain S-STEM (Space- Science, Engineering, Mathematics) experiments, sky viewing telescopes, educational videos, lectures/ presentations etc, and aims at reaching out to schools located in far, remote, rural areas of the country or locations as requested through the Space Van Portal
- Online contests for school, college and university students
- Portal to register your institution for World Space Week and conduct theme related activities at respective premises
- Teachers guide containing books for both teachers and students belonging to primary, secondary and graduate levels
- Career guide to orient interested students with suitable paths to join space technology sector
